Evaluation

On the preliminary task I learned a variety of things.
I have learned how to shoot different camera angles correctly, using the correct distances is vital in making the shot look realistic. Putting the camera angles in the correct sequence was also important in making the sequence look good, before this task I never realized that it mattered so much but if its not in the right sequence then the clip looks wrong and it becomes confusing. In order to plan the sequence we used a storyboard. This helped a great deal in planning what the shots would look like and made the filming easier.

The 180 degree rule requires a lot more editing compared to the rest of the shots. You must edit it so it looks as if the characters are having a real conversation so there must be no pauses in dialogue and the conversation must flow. This resulted in a lot of work put into the slicing of the shots. We also had to make sure that we didn't 'cross the line' so the viewers perception didn't change so we avoided confusion.

This preliminary task has prepared me for children's film because I now have a better understanding for camera angles and editing, I realise how important flow is in the sequence. Storyboards are very important because they help with the planning. I also now know how to use the camera equipment and Final cut express to a better knowledge.
